Frequently Asked Questions

Which airport should we fly into?

Please book flights into Cape Town International Airport (CPT). This is the closest major airport to the venue.

Please make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months after your travel dates. Most guests can enter South Africa without a visa.

You can fly direct to Cape Town from London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW).

Alternatively, you’ll find flights with stopovers available from other UK airports such as Bristol, Birmingham, and many more.

How do we get to the venue from the airport?

The venue is about 2 hours from Cape Town International Airport (CPT).

Taxis and private transfers can be arranged.

We recommend renting a cardriving is straightforward and gives you flexibility to explore. Car hire recommendations: BLUU, Hertz, Avis.

Closer to the date, we’ll share details for a shared coach/transfer between Cape Town and Coot Club (timings, pick-up point, and booking info). If you’d like to register interest now, please email Jsmithwedding@outlook.com.

Where will guests stay?

We’ve reserved a block of rooms at Rivergate Guest Farm, which is much closer to the venue and perfect for our wedding weekend.

Rooms are available in different sizes (doubles and family rooms). Prices start at £50 per night per guest.

We would recommend staying from 19th November – 22nd November 2026.

Guests will book and pay for their rooms directly with the hotel. Please use the link on the Travel & Stay page.

What is the currency used locally?

South African Rand (ZAR) symbol R.

Cards (Visa/Mastercard) and contactless are widely accepted in Cape Town; carry a little cash for markets, tips, and small purchases.

How many days are your celebrations?

Three days – 19–21 November 2026 (Thu–Sat).

Is transport arranged from the hotel to the wedding events?

We’ll be arranging transport between Rivergate Farm and the wedding venue (Coot club) for all three days of the celebrations. Shuttles will run at set times so everyone can travel together easily and enjoy the festivities without worrying about logistics.

There is also parking at the venue available.

What will the weather be like in November?

Temperature

  • Daytime: 27°C + (warm and comfortable)

  • Evenings: 20°C (can feel cooler with the wind)

Rain

  • Very little rain – November is the start of summer.

Wind

  • November often sees the Cape Doctor (south-easterly winds) so please do pack light jacket for the evenings.

What is the dress code?

We’ve listed the dress code for each of the main events – the pre-wedding dinner, the wedding day, and the pool party – on the website here.

We kindly ask that guests avoid wearing white or blue dresses, as these colours are reserved for the bridesmaids. Thank you so much!

Are children invited?

Children are very welcome to join us for the wedding weekend!

We’ll have a dedicated children’s area with professional nannies during the main events, so parents can relax and enjoy themselves.

Please note: while children are welcome at all other celebrations, the wedding ceremony itself will be an adults-only occasion. During the ceremony, little ones will be cared for onsite at the venue until it concludes.
